We had an excellent holiday. Not only did I get to spend some quality time with Sarah and the kids we also had the opportunity to spend time with some of our family and friends. Throughout these visits we kept getting comments about not getting any sleep and how busy we must be. Usually these comments were accompanied with looks of sympathy. Although it is true that we may not be getting as much sleep as we're accustomed to and we may no longer have time for hobbies, there is no need to pity us. I can't speak for Sarah, but I am having the time of my life. The kids have become my hobby. Sleep deprivation is temporary (and as a colleague of mine often says: You can sleep all you want when you're dead) . Rather than focusing on the negatives, I've chosen to enjoy the good things about being a parent. Everyday I wake up knowing that both Liam and Emily will grow in some way. Perhaps Liam will figure out how traffic signals work or learn to ski or use an iPod. Perhaps Emily will make a new face or start holding on to things or start laughing at her surrounding. No matter what it is, the learning adventures are truly exciting.
The past two weeks spent at home (and on the road) with Liam, Emily and Sarah have made me realize just of how much fun we have as a family. It was great having the time off. It must be time to start planning another leave from work!
Here are some photos from the past week.

Wow! Look at the speed demon x-country skiing! Is that a look of intense concentration, or what? Super fun.
Great to see you guys - we're already looking forward to February. Tell Liam to bring those skis - it's been snowing non-stop for the last week!
Auntie Jooie
We're jealous about all of the snow you have. We'll definitely have to bring our skis.
