Great Father's Day

Liam wanted to attend the Truck Show in town this past weekend. Having no interests in trucks I couldn't see how this was going to be any fun. Honestly, how fun could it be to look at a bunch of parked big rigs. Needless to say on Sunday we headed to the event. We were there early in the morning so there weren't a lot of planned activities going on and the show was basically what you'd expect, a bunch of shiny trucks parked and waiting to be judged.

Although the truck part wasn't terribly exciting, the organizers did a fantastic job planning for kids. There was so much for them to do. There was a real tow truck that looked just like Tow Mater from the movie Cars, a bouncy castle, a rock climbing wall, a children's area with a huge sand  pile and a variety of other toys and activities.

It was no surprise that the kids loved the bouncy castle. Liam also enjoyed the rock climbing wall. Perhaps the most exciting events were the ones where Liam got to operate some heavy equipment. He sat in a backhoe and used the controls to move some sand around. It was pretty cool. Liam also got to sit in my lap as I drove a big rig (sans trailer) around a track. As we completed our lap Liam blew the horn and waved at Emily who was waiting patiently.

We all had a great time. Next time I won't be so quick to judge an event I have no interest in.
