Experiences

I recently listened to Terry O'Reily's The Age of Persuasion podcast about selling experiences. This week as I enjoy a week off with the family I realize just how important those experiences are. The experiences lead to good times and to memories. Those memories and experiences are what will help guide our kids in the decisions they make as they become more independent. Our kids will not remember the cheap junk purchased at Walmart or the over-priced clothes purchased at the mall. They will remember the experiences.

This week has been full of experiences for the whole family. We tapped maple trees to make our own syrup. We collected sap, made a fire and boiled the sap down then enjoyed waffles with our home made maple syrup. Liam has helped Grampa drive the tractor. I've used a chainsaw for the first time and still have all of my limbs attached and learned how to use a portable sawmill. These have all been great experiences that Liam has either experienced directly or observed. In addition to these experiences it's been a great week for Liam and Emily to spend time with their grandparents, which they both seem to enjoy a great deal.

Although I did bring the cameras with us, I forgot to bring a memory card reader and have no way of getting the pictures off the computer. I will post them on the weekend.
