I've been absolutely amazed over the past couple of weeks at the development that is going on for both Liam and Emily. Emily is so keen to watch Liam and do the things that he does. It's so funny to watch. Many of the things she tries to replicate, she is not quite coordinated enough to do, which makes it a hoot to watch. You can almost see her thought process as she studies Liam, tries it herself and then has to watch Liam again.
Liam has become so inquisitive. He's asking what everything means and wants to know how everything works. Here's a short conversation we had the other day after Sarah asked me to turn on the Internet on our phone.
Liam: What are you doing Dave?
Me: Turning on the Internet for Mom?
Liam: How do you turn on the Internet?
Me: I can turn the phone into a wireless hotspot so Mom can get on the Internet through the phone.
Liam: How does that work?
Me: The phone gets turned into a wireless router and sends out a signal so that Mom has access to the Internet through the phone.
Liam: Oh. That's a pretty smart phone.
It amazes me that at 3 he knows what a smart phone is. I'm also amazed at just how much he craves learning about things. I wonder when and why this thirst for knowledge disappears for many kids. Hopefully it's not when they enter the school system. That would be a real shame.
