Ahhh...Summer

The cottage life has been fantastic. So much so that I forget I have a life outside of the cottage. It occurred to me yesterday that my four months off is coming to an end soon. I guess I better open some books and decide what the heck I'm teaching in about three weeks. Oh well that can wait until later. In fact it will probably wait until much later.

Liam is loving his time at the cottage. He enjoyed hanging out with Becca and was sad to see her leave. He's had a lot of fun with Taye lately. They seem to enjoy each other's company. The spend a lot of time playing on the beach and they have been fishing together for the last two nights. I'm glad they're enjoying their time together.

Liam has become more confident swimming. We plop him in the water with a pool noodle and he's as happy as can be. He likes to hold the noodle and keep his feet pointing (and kicking) straight down. He's swimming instructor will not be pleased in September.

Emily took her first steps a couple of days ago. It was totally out of the blue. She was crying a fair bit and wouldn't stop. Since I don't have breast to help calm her down my technique is to let her stand up while I hold her. I did just that on a fairly uneven path. She seemed quite stable so I let her go. She stood still for about 15 seconds and then took three steps towards me. Luckily Grampa was there to witness the event. We've tried to repeat the event but she's so excited that she loses her concentration and balance. It won't be long before she's walking.
